Just because you eat less doesn’t mean you lose muscle especially in trained individuals who account for protein, keep their training consistent and carbs relatively high

No. You don’t lose muscle in a cut because of fewer carbs - because you lose muscle because the body is in a catabolic energy state and will break down tissue if stimulus + protein + recovery aren’t sufficient

That deficit is absolutely retarded. You can build or maintain muscle tissue during a cut depending on the aggressiveness of the cut, your protein intake, anabolic and lipolytic agents and training stimulus. It’s called body recompositioning. A -2000cal deficit is insane and you will without a doubt catabolise muscle tissue.
