Most militaries switched from amphetamines to this as their “stay awake” pill because it’s not addictive and the side effects are minimal. (But it’s not nearly as strong as Adderall / Vyvanse in terms of ADHD, so it’s not really an effective replacement for most, but a good adjutant, and much better than caffeine in every way imo.).

my main worry is that since i dont have adhd i would build tolerance faster than they would and my dopamine sensitivity would get worse over time

Tolerance to Modafinil / Armodafinil isn’t really a thing because of the way it’s metabolized, unlike caffeine. Nor does it act on dopamine receptors. What does happen is that initially it can seem very strong, and weakens over the first month or so. That’s because your liver will increase the enzyme that breaks it down once you start taking it. But that enzyme level plateaus quickly, and then its effectiveness stays stable indefinitely. The people taking it for narcolepsy have done so daily for decades without developing tolerance. Sometimes the dose is increased after that first month, but after that it doesn’t need to be increased.
