when people describe needing higher doses of stims often it's people actually chasing the euphoria of initial dose rather than aiming for a new dopaminergic baseline

I agree with this point.

there's a very strong position to be made that someone taking amphetamines for adhd should be on it every single day as to habituate the brain to the dopamine baseline, and lessen the comparative magnitude of your peaks and troughs throughout the day/life

But the outcome of this behavior is that implicitly the baseline shifts and it’s how addiction cements itself

it'll lessen the cardiovascular strain as well actually as you allow your body to get used to the norepinephrine surge

so the actual baseline shifts but the delta in your natural peaks and dips of dopamine does not scale with the baseline

I would also agree with this point strongly but only if the diagnosis thresholds are standardized across all patients.

We used to have more stringent and Standardized criteria for diagnosis. So Johnny in Texas has to go through the and evaluations as Nancy in Maine.

The issue now is that NPs have flooded the market giving everyone that just says they have adhd a diagnosis on the spot

Going back to your point, I’m in total agreement for folks that truly have a real disability
